Thorntons Windows is CPA Approved: added reassurance for your home improvements

Choosing a company to improve your home is an important decision. Alongside quality products and professional installation, you want to know that you are working with a trusted business and understand the protection available for your investment.

At Thorntons Windows, we are pleased to be approved by the Consumer Protection Association (CPA), supporting our commitment to customer care and giving homeowners added reassurance.

What is the Consumer Protection Association?

The CPA works within the home improvement industry, helping homeowners find vetted professionals and access protection for eligible work.

Its members must meet the association’s membership criteria. For customers, choosing a CPA Approved company provides another point of reassurance when deciding who to trust with their home.

What does CPA approval mean for customers?

Insurance-backed guarantees

A written installation guarantee is an important part of your home improvement project. An insurance-backed guarantee provides additional protection if the installer ceases trading and can no longer honour that guarantee.

Through CPA membership, insurance-backed guarantees are available for eligible installations, subject to the policy’s terms, conditions and exclusions. This gives homeowners protection that extends beyond the installer’s own written promise.

Deposit protection for eligible projects

Paying a deposit is often the first step towards getting your project underway. Where available and arranged, CPA deposit protection can help protect that payment if the contractor ceases trading before work begins.

CPA’s scheme covers up to 25% of the agreed contract price or £7,500, whichever is lower, for a maximum of 120 days or until work starts, whichever happens first. The deposit must be registered for cover to apply.

Our team can explain whether this protection is available for your project and the steps required to arrange it.

Access to consumer advice

Customers working with a CPA member can also access the association’s consumer advice service, offering an additional source of support with their home improvement project.

How does CPA approval work alongside FENSA?

Thorntons Windows is also a FENSA Approved Installer. The two schemes serve different purposes and complement one another.

For qualifying replacement window and door installations, FENSA provides certification of compliance with the relevant Building Regulations and registration with the local council. CPA offers access to insurance-backed guarantees and, where available, deposit protection for eligible projects.

Together, they help customers understand both the certification of their installation and the financial protection available.

Personal service from an established family business

As a family-run business established in 1980, Thorntons Windows understands the importance of trust, clear communication and looking after customers throughout their project.

Our CPA approval supports that approach. From your initial enquiry through to installation and aftercare, we will explain the work involved, the guarantee provided and any applicable protection, so you can make an informed decision.
